On March 1, 2018, Chargée d’affaires a.i. of the Republic of Moldova to the United States of America, Tatiana Solomon, together with Andrian Roșa, First Secretary of the Embassy, joined the traditional National Peace Corps Association`s Capitol Hill Day of Action. Moldovan diplomats accompanied by a group of Peace Corps volunteers, including those who served in the Republic of Moldova, had several meetings with senators and congressmen, including Congressman Ed Perlmutter (D-CO). The meetings served as a good opportunity to promote the results of the Peace Corps in the Republic of Moldova, as well as to present the evolutions of the Moldovan-American bilateral relations, as well as exploring the opportunities for their deepening.

During the celebration of the 57th anniversary of the founding of the National Peace Corps Association the Embassy congratulated Judge Ted Poe (R-TX), who was awarded with the „2018 Sam Farr Congressional Leadership Award” for the continued support of the Association. It is noteworthy that Congressman Poe will visit Chisinau these days to attend the regional High LevelInterparliamentary Conference on security issues, hosted by the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova and organized in cooperation with the Atlantic Council.

During the meetings, the counterparts were able to find out about the activities of the 1468 Peace Corps volunteers who since 1993 have participated in the development of projects in the fields of education, health and economic development in the Republic of Moldova, with 101 volunteers serving currently in our state. Also, all participants in the dialogue received a „mărţişor” token and enjoyed the description of national traditions and touristic attractions.
