Charge d'Affaires a.i. Tatiana Solomon attended the meeting of the Republic of Moldova - North Carolina Bilateral Cooperation Committee

On 28 of January, in Raleigh, North Carolina, USA, the Charge d'Affaires a.i. Tatiana Solomon, accompanied by First Secretary of the Embassy, Andrian Rosa, attended the meeting of the American side of the Republic of Moldova - North Carolina Bilateral Cooperation Committee. The meeting was convened by the Co-Chair of the Committee Elaine Marshall, Secretary of State of North Carolina. The event gathered over 100 participants, including members of the American side of the Committee, representatives of the U.S. Department of State, Office of the Governor of North Carolina, National Guard of North Carolina and many partners involved in cooperation projects with the Republic of Moldova.

In the opening of the reunion, Elaine Marshall offered a retrospective of the special relationship between the Republic of Moldova and North Carolina, highlighting the remarkable projects that were implemented and the importance of this interaction as a successful example for establishing similar partnerships with other countries. Among the goals of the meeting there were mentioned the connection between the existing and potential partners, the appreciation of those who contributed to cooperation projects and drawing new targets for the months and years ahead.

Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration of the Republic of Moldova Andrei Galbur, greeted the participants of the meeting via a video message, in his capacity as Co-Chair of the Committee. Minister Galbur highly appreciated the personal contribution and dedication of the Secretary of State Elaine Marshall to strengthen the cooperation relations between the Republic of Moldova and North Carolina. Also, Moldovan Co-chair of the Committee emphasized the outstanding results in military, education, medical and social - humanitarian cooperation.

Tatiana Solomon, presented the business opportunities between the Republic of Moldova and North Carolina, in order to develop the trade-economic relations. At the same time, the proposals for cooperation in new areas such as regional development, agriculture, tourism, science etc. were submitted to the American side.

In the margins of the reunion, separate sectoral sessions were held for participants to examine new opportunities for interaction in various fields. The live broadcast of the event on social networks had quite a very generous audience, being watched by over 5,000 persons both from the United States and the Republic of Moldova. In conclusion, Elaine Marshall recalled that the relations with the Republic of Moldova are equally important for the leadership of North Carolina and its people.

The privileged partnership between the Republic of Moldova and North Carolina was officially launched in 1999 by signing a Memorandum of Cooperation. Later on, a Bilateral Cooperation Committee was established, which aims to evaluate the results and boost the bilateral actions. Every year, public and private organizations implement various projects of cooperation in areas of common interest.
