Participation of Ambassador Igor Munteanu at the North Carolina/Moldova Bilateral Partnership Committee.

On December 10, 2010, Ambassador Igor Munteanu, on invitation of Mrs. Elaine Marshall, NC Secretary of State, participated at the North Carolina/Republic of Moldova Partnership Committee. This meeting is a part of an interactional and planning framework on cooperation regarding the existed Partnership. The main scope of the meeting was to evaluate the realized activities, evaluation of the proposals on new objectives and priorities selected by the signatory parties of the Cooperation program for the next years.

The event was attended by about 50 persons, representatives of the different authorities and institutions, directly involved in the partnership relations with Moldova, including representatives of MCC, NC universities (USCN, Duke University, Global Health Center al USCN), Open World Program, Jewish Federation from Greensboro, Carolina Adoption Service, National Guard and others.

At the same time, Ambassador undertook a visit to the Research Triangle Institute/ Research Triangle Park, a success project of the North Carolina state in domains of biotechnology, IT and corporative governance, research and development, which assured the most dynamic force of the economical development of NC in last 10 years.

At the end of this visit Ambassador had a meeting with Professor Michael Newcity, Deputy Director of the Center for Slavic, Eurasian and East-European studies from the Duke University, one of the most respective institutions not only from NC but also from the whole America.  Were discussed possible domains of cooperation between this university and universities from Moldova especially in the domains of public policy, business and technological area.
